Great bags big enough for a man to carry on his shoulders without having the load catch under the arms. I personally hate carrying things in my hands, why?

  • Great value
  • Super strong & durable

    Dimensions: 19" x 12.5" x 10" with a 31" long strap

Messenger bag and newspaper bag meets shopping bag. Typically used by mail carriers and newspaper delivery folks, this big, heavy duty natural cotton canvas bag is great for trips to big box retailers such as Costco, or hauling heavy groceries especially cans, beverages, etc. Used by a variety of groups for promotions, plays and activities.

3" wide shoulder strap effectively distributes extra heavy loads and long enough to hang across the body. Probably the best bag we carry for comfortably hauling really heavy loads.

Here's your chance to get the same bag the pros like Gannett and Tribune Newspaper companies purchase for their carriers!

    Made in USA.

I'm in a wheelchair, but I can get around in my wheelchair lift-equipped van. Before I got this bag, grocery shopping alone was a real hassle. Now, I just put the strap around my neck and load it up as I'm shopping. All of the cashiers now know not to bother to bag my groceries as I just put them back into my bag. I bought some of that 3" wide day-glo green safety tape and had a local seamstress sew it onto the front of the bag for added visibility when I'm navigating store parking lots at night. The only problem I've had is that my housekeeper washed it in hot water and I lost a little volume due to shrinkage. Great product! Jay Moreno St. Marys, GA

I gave two of these bags to my mother for Mother's Day. She loves them. She currently uses these bags to transport her veggies back from the co-op as the veggies are lightweight and just take up a lot of space. Another use is to collect empty refillable one gallon water bottles that will later be taken to the store to refill. As for the construction of the tote, I hope that the company producing these will address the construction as the threads seem to be ending way off of the bag leaving long strings that, if cut-off at the edge of the bag would cause the stitching to unravel. For now, we left the strings as-is but wish for asthetics that the strings would end with the end of the bag.

We were looking for an alternative to wooden boxes for wildlife biologists to carry small mammal trap while in the field and purchased 16 of these bags. The bags fit 15 Sherman traps perfectly and allow for easy carrying in the field. These bags appear to be rugged and hold up well to use, and we hope to use them over the course of several years. However, because we have only been using them a short time, it remains to be seen how well they will hold up for the long term and if the sharp corners of the traps will cause excess wear on the bags. The only drawback to these bags is the straps - they could be a bit longer or be adjustable.

I discovered these bags a few years ago when a volunteer brought them to one of my plant identification workshops in which we remove non-native plants and install natives in natural areas. They worked so well that I ordered another batch when I took a new job in another county. The bags are perfect for collecting non-native plants (such as Air Potatoes), carrying native plants to the location in which they will get planted (including those in small pots), and great for garbage clean-up workshops as well! We can use them for seed collection, too. The shoulder strap makes carrying a lot of material easy, and the bags can be thrown in to the washer.

    It's big and strong

    by Mark S - 09/2009

It's big and strong. And it's made me a checkout employee friend at my grocery store. She appreciates my produce-heavy purchases and my self-bagging ways. Using fewer plastic bags is bloody cool. Although, after a washing, it seems to lose its stiffness and shrink a bit.

    This is a wonderful product

    by Tommy H - 08/2009

This is a wonderful product. I use them for shopping as I did the white cotton canvas bags. The strap is too large for me because it slips off my shoulder sometimes. The bag does Not fall however. The opening I feel needs a flap as it is too large for me since experience has shown the contents will fall out if it's on a floor and has to be moved quickly. If a flap that would be sewn on and locked by perhaps a large zipper or an expanse of velcro or rope with wood as I've noticed some ladys' purses are made. I was thinking of velcro. If however you know of the best/better way to seal the flap I'm thinking of, I'd like to send one, then the other back for these additions. And to have an length adjuster added if possible.

    by Ryan R - 08/2009

I'm a field biologist and I use these bags to carry heavy boxes of equipment out to and around my study sites. They get used pretty roughly, but these bags are really strong and hold up well to my abuse. They have a long enough strap to cross over the shoulder opposite that which the bag is held, which makes balancing heavy bags relatively easy. I have washed these a couple times, and they seem to maintain their color and size very well. Sure, you take on the look of a newspaper delivery person, but especially in black, it still looks pretty nice. If you need a really big, strong bag, this is a great choice!

I got these for my grandson who delivers a once weekly paper. It is a walking route and he says they are great. Lot easier than carrying several small bags. My husband said the strap is a little short for him but it is fine for my grandson.

    This bag is almost perfect

    by James K - 02/2009

This bag is almost perfect. I do have a couple of nits to pick. Although it was probably not intended for the purpose, I use the bag when I go to the supermarket. So, it's too bad the strap doesn't completely wrap around the bottom of the bag for a bit of reinforcement. I bought a lot of canned items recently and the lack of 'structure' made it slightly difficult to pack, though the bag was strong enough to cope with the load. I could probably address this with a little bit of cardboard. I also wish the strap was a little longer, every inch matters, but it looks sturdy enough. White stitching on black canvas looks sharp, but the way the stitches were finished was definitely second-rate. I don't know how to sew, but I think I could do better. 4 stars out of 5, I say.

    I love these newspaper-style bags

    by KATHLEEN D - 02/2009

I love these newspaper-style bags. They are a great canvas for machine-embroidery, so I have dressed them up with embroidery on the outside, then I have made linings with multiple pockets, making them perfect for all sorts of tasks. My most-used one has embroidered images of my two dogs and a pocket-filled lining. I use it to tote all their stuff to dog training classes, and I have even popped one of the dogs in as well! I love the wide strap, which is very comfortable on the shoulder. I have ordered more than a dozen of these in white and black, and have made gifts out of some, although I hate to part with any!
