SIGG Kids Reusable Bottles are a smart, stylish, safe alternative to polycarbonate plastic sippy cups. As parents, we love these bottles because they are durable, spill proof & leak proof. The bottle's special liner ensures great taste and is tested to prove 0% leaching. Kids go crazy over the fun, colorful designs. Many of these cool styles are discontinued each year - see one you like, don't wait!

Care Instructions
Do not freeze your SIGG aluminum bottle – it will crack! Rinsing your SIGG thoroughly under the faucet with warm, soapy water at the end of every day and letting it air dry with the top off provides sufficient cleaning in most cases. When more thorough cleaning is required, you can use baking soda and vinegar. For tough jobs, pick up some SIGG cleaning tablets and a SIGG brush. Do not use a hard bristled brush to clean the interior of your SIGG bottle as this may damage the liner.

Design & Functionality
SIGG’s are safe, reusable bottles that do not leach toxins into its contents. Reusable, lightweight & durable. These bottles can take a hit without compromising the interior lining. About 20% lighter weight than a comparable sized Lexan plastic bottle, SIGG’s are incredibly durable, virtually unbreakable. Just ask the guys at Backpacker magazine who recently tested the leading bottle brands. Test results showed SIGG as "The World’s Toughest Water Bottle".

Fashionable as they are functional, each year SIGG launches exciting new designs from artists around the world. Much like a fashion house, SIGG rotates and drops designs to keep things fresh. SIGG reusable bottles are beautifully designed - in fact, SIGG bottles are part of the permanent Design Collection at the NY Museum of Modern Art.

Materials
Designed and manufactured in Switzerland from a single piece of pure aluminum, each bottle is perfectly extruded for uniform, seamless construction. The brilliant exterior of a SIGG is created using a solvent-free, eco-friendly, powder-based coating which is baked on to create a vibrant finish.

SIGG reusable bottles have been independently tested to prove no detectable leaching of harmful chemicals like BPA (learn more about BPA). SIGG's proprietary bottle EcoCare liner is a bake-on, polymer powder coating which is sprayed evenly onto the bottle interior and bonded to the aluminum shell at nearly 200 degrees Celsius to form a permanent, flexible barrier. Just 40 microns thick, this coating comprises only a few grams per bottle and in no way interferes with the ultimate recycling of your SIGG. The liner is taste-neutral and resistant to fruit acids and energy drinks, ensuring that your drinks taste like your drinks every time.

"While the polycarbonate #7 (aka Lexan) bottles leached a significant amount of BPA, the SIGG bottles – both new & used – showed no detectable BPA." -- Dr. Jonathan Chun PhD, Alliance Technology 2007

"According to the results of our evaluation, use of a SIGG bottle does not add to the beverage any particles or components which are dangerous to human health" -- Dr. Ulrich Nehring, Institute Nehring, 2007

Sustainability
Not only are SIGG bottles designed to be reusable, they are 100% recyclable at the end of their very long lives. Aluminum is one of the most environmentally friendly materials in the world because it is extremely easy to recycle, regaining nearly all of its properties and making it ideal for repurposing.

Single-use, disposable water bottles (PET plastic) create millions of tons of unnecessary waste each year. In fact, according to the Container Recycling Institute, less than 15% of plastic water bottles in the U.S. are actually recycled – most wind up in landfills where they can take up to 1000 years to biodegrade. Using SIGG bottles helps replace wasteful, use-and-toss single serving plastic and paper beverage containers, while saving you money in the process. Reusing durable SIGG bottles ultimately helps you consume less over time.

"More than 90% of the environmental impact of a plastic bottle takes place before the bottle hits the landfill... energy to manufacture, energy to transport, energy to refrigerate--and ultimately energy to recycle." – Dr. Allen Hershkowitz, NRDC

About SIGG
For 100+ years, SIGG has utilized Swiss precision and craftsmanship to produce high-quality reusable bottles. The history of SIGG Switzerland dates back to 1908 when metal processing specialist Ferdinand Sigg established an aluminum product factory in Biel, Switzerland. The SIGG bottle became a fixture in Swiss households; in fact, every member of the Swiss Army had a SIGG bottle issued as standard field gear. A USA subsidiary was launched in 2005, but SIGG operations still remain in the quaint village of Frauenfeld, Switzerland to this day.

SIGG is committed to preserving nature. A member of 1% for the Planet, SIGG USA donates 1% of all sales to helping preserve our environment. They choose FSC-certified papers for all their publications, and work with eco-printing plants to actively reduce CO2 emissions and participate in voluntary climate protection.

We offer lots of additional info on SIGG in our SIGG FAQs.

    by Claire T - 02/2008

I purchased this product for my 20-month=old daughter. She loves the glow-in-the dark design and I love that it is so well made with no harmful plastics. It is a little too hard for her to work on her own. The cap flips up and then the top must be rotated back and forth to open and close the top - otherwise the water can be poured out. We purchased the kids grip handle as well and that is a must for kids! We love the bottle and while we use it some now we will use it more as she gets older. I would recommend this bottle for kids 3 years and older.

Very cute bottle and my 2 1/2 year old son loves using it (his fireman cup!). He had no trouble drinking from the spout and I feel better giving water to him in this than in plastic sippy cups. I plan on giving these as gifts for friends with little ones.

The SIGG kids bottle is a great product!

    by Elizabeth S - 11/2007

The SIGG kids bottle is a great product! I chose it because of it's safety features - it's aluminum and (according to SIGG) the products that go into making the bottle are not harmful to my son. I chose the sun/moon glow-in-the-dark because we spend a lot of time outside - day/night. It's a nice reflection of our style. A truely great cup!

    by Angela D - 10/2007

Our son is 17 months old and had no problem at all switching from his old cup to this one. We have two and just love them because we know that he his drinking safely! We have the Kids Grip handles and they work great for him. He loves to carry his bottles around by the handle and unfortunately they leak all over. That is my only complaint. I only let him use it when he is sitting or I am right there to remind him to set it on the table. It makes such a mess. Now he knows if he shakes it his water comes out. He really likes when there is milk in it. Mom doesn't.

    by EB C - 09/2007

This is a delightful-looking water bottle, but it has not proven as functional as we would have liked. I bought this for my six-year-old daughter, who needed something to replace some old mini-Nalgenes with sport tops for her lunch box. We initially (and still do) love the look of the Sigg. However, my daughter has complained of the relative difficulty of drinking from it (there is some stiffness in twisting the mouthpiece open and closed) and, frankly, I have found cleaning the whole thing to be nothing but a pain. The cap-mouthpiece unit needs to be disassembled into four pieces; the gasket is especially difficult to extricate (and I have small fingers!) and easy to lose in the drying rack. Also, I had to find our old Avent bottle brush to ensure that the bottle itself gets a proper cleaning. In contrast, the sport-top mini-Nalgene was really easy to open and close, and was super easy to clean with just a sponge. We'll continue with the Sigg because of our concerns about plastic, but we won't be spreading the gospel of Sigg either. It's still so cute, though!

This was our first experience with SIGG after hearing raves from my neighbor with kids. It has not dissapointed! The size is perfect for lunch boxes and it keeps cold for hours! We have not branched out into the different tops and things, but so far, so good!

    by Katherine J - 07/2007

Our one-year-old loves this bottle & with the added handle grips, he's able to give himself a drink. We can control the flow of the water with the sports top, so he'll be able to grow into it as well. This bottle will get a lot of use. Thanks...

    by Alice H - 07/2007

This is a cool bottle. It fits in vehicle cup holders and coolies (which I would recommend for outdoor use). I do pull the flip-top off the kids caps, though. It kept getting in the way when my son was trying to drink. This is easily done and can be put back in place if you want to have it back.

    by Tina W - 06/2007

My son has used a Sigg bottle since he was 2 (maybe earlier!). At first he needed assistance to open it, though he quickly got the hang of it. This bottle has survived 1.5 years of traveling throughout Europe and back and forth to the States and has finally dented enough to warrant a new, fun pattern! Such a great product, both kidos now have them and love being a little different than the other kids in preschool who have wasteful, throw-away water bottles. Love them!

    by Marci M - 05/2007

My 3-year-old daughter thinks the bottle is very cute, but she does not want to drink from it. She cannot open the sport cap by herself and would rather drink from anything else that she can use without assistance. I will be returning this bottle.

    by Vivian H - 05/2007

I just bought this bottle for my daughter who's about to enter preschool and she loves it. She was not very fond of plain water with the various juice options available but with a fun and glow in the dark bottle, she's asking for "more water please."
