We knew we had a winner on our hands when we found this simple, safe and smart lunch box. With 5 large containers, there’s plenty of room for all your kid’s food but there’s only one lid to snap shut. Kids will love customizing with over 275 stickers and the built-in handle makes it easy to tote around and hang up at school.

Pair it with utensils and a napkin for a complete lunch kit.

A note from the manufacturer: "You may notice a small treasure compartment lid which attached to the top, larger lid of the Goodbyn lunchbox in these photos. We have decided, after considerable thought, not to ship this piece with the Goodbyn lunchbox. Functionality is first and foremost in our minds, and it never really worked like you would expect it to—not sealing completely and falling off easily. If we shipped with it, we felt both at retail and in consumers' hands, it would become a 'throwaway' item which became worrisome to us as a company."

Design & Functionality
The fun starts with customization – kids can write their names and make funny faces with the stickers in each box. The smart, one-piece lid seals each compartment separately – so your sandwich won’t taste like your banana and your crackers won’t get wet. Easy-to-open ears and a built-in handle make it simple for small hands – large top container great for leftovers or large pieces of fruit, two side containers for dips and sauces, a bottom container for stacked sandwich halves, salads and more and the 8oz bottle fits right in the middle with plenty of extra room for utensils and a napkin. When the lunch box is open, all the colorful foods and fun shapes will encourage healthy eating habits.

Materials
Made entirely of FDA-approved materials, 100% recyclable and made in the USA. Lunch box is BPA-free, pthlate-free Polypropylene (#5) plastic. Water bottle is HDPE (#2). CPSIA Certified.

Sustainability
Goodbyn Lunch Boxes replace hundreds of plastic baggies, single-serve food containers, juice boxes, plastic water bottles and other disposable containers every year. And you’ll waste less money – by not using plastic bags and drink boxes you can save $190 per year, per child.

Tips
  • Send the water bottle to school partially frozen – it’ll keep the water cold and help keep your child’s lunch cool.

This lunch box never lost it's strong plastic smell even after washing with lemon juice. The space for a sandwich was too small for a whole sandwich, you could only fit half. It was way too difficult to shut for my child (and for me!). You had to put things in bags first or the food would pop out when trying to undo the lid. Plus the plastic smell made you not want to put food directly into the compartments. I am very sorry I wasted my money on this. After one week my five year old did not want to take it to school because her food did not fit properly and it was too difficult to close.

While the general concept is awesome the fact that younger kids can't close it correctly makes it flawed. It was banned from my son's kindergarten class after 2 days because his teacher can't always help him and if he doesn't close it right and holds it by the handle the food will go everywhere. I also think the juice container could be better, the lid barely snaps on and though it has only leaked once on us its very easy for the lid to come off. The foods do not mix into one another if the lid is on and having the food all right there with no packages to open makes my kids eat better. I would return but I think in a few years these will be the perfect lunchbox and they are good for taking them places like the park and the beach when I close them. It should have an age limit of 6-7. My son is 6 and can't always close it right. I have washed and washed mine and It has a weird smell, a chemical type smell. I thought it was just when it was new but it still smells very strong when you take the lid off the lunch box and get ready to pack it. Even leaving the lid off and washing over and over...worries me.

I posted a lengthy review earlier that I wanted to amend. At the time I posted, I didn't know that my 5 year old son was requesting help everyday from his teacher to close this lunchbox and the drink bottle has now leaked several times (and I did realize it does twist close, but somehow it is still leaking). Now my son is requesting to eat in the cafeteria and doesn't want to use his lunchbox. While I think the goodbyn people have a good idea on their hands they need to work on the execution. I guess this lunchbox is probably better for kids aged 7 and up.

The idea is great, this lunchbox would be perfect if only my 6 year old son would be able to open and close it by himself. He can't take it to school now because of that, so I had to buy another lunchbox. I am very, very disappointed!

I was so excited to get these lunch boxes, I only wish I could sustain my enthusiasm for them. I purchased three of them for my daughters, 4 1/2 and 2 1/2 twins. Obviously the younger girls cannot close the lid themselves, but NEITHER can I. It takes many attempts to secure the lid thoroughly, and it still seems to pop up on another edge. My other main complaint is that as a working mom I need to pre-pack lunches the night before a school day. I have a hard time fitting 3 of these in my fridge (it needs to be a lean day for contents in there!). Pros: one stop lunch container cute design stickers to decorate BPA free and other good things a mom-created business Cons: difficult to securely close cannot keep items cool cannot store pre-assembled boxes easily in the refrigerator difficult to fit easily into dishwashers (but I have 3 to manage) I will keep trying this lunchbox, primarily because I spent so much money on them and I feel like I need to stick it out. I wish the flaws could be fixed - it would be a slam dunk of a lunch box. I want to believe in this product.

Love the idea and look of this lunchbox

Love the idea and look of this lunchbox. My daughter loves the personalized sticker experience. Foregoing the plastic bags is great, fits perfectly into the backpack and handle is handy. But the box is difficult to close properly. My daughter has to have a teacher do it for her at school and I even have a hard time sealing all edges in a timely manner (and I do not put it in the dishwasher). I would recommend it for an older child, but would hesitate with young ones.

I quite like the goodbyn lunch box. The only reason I'm rating it a four out of five is that I sometimes have to double check to make sure that the lid is fitting properly...it can take a couple of tries to get it right. otherwise, great product!

I bought the green Goodbyn Lunch box for my 9 yr old who takes her lunch to school every day. At first, we had a couple of spill accidents from not closing the box properly. Now that we have the hang of it, we love it! I put a rubber band around the drink bottle to secure the top and that has helped a lot. It's very easy to clean and the stickers are holding up beautifully wash after wash! She loved decorating it. I love having all the compartments together. Lunch making is actually faster in the mornings!

I bought this lunch box for my nephew who is starting first grade this year. His sister grabbed it out of the box, proclaimed it as 'MINE!' and it hasn't left her side since. I'd say it went over well. Apparently we'll be purchasing another... :)

    by Amy A - 09/2009

It's cute......but my son and a whole bevvy of kids that we had over to the house can't open or close it by themselves!! It's actually completely useless because of that. Also, when it's full, the handle hurts your hand to carry it. It's pretty flimsy. Not sure what we're going to do with it now, as we put stickers all over it....it's in paperweight mode at the moment. BUMMER!! We wanted to believe!!!

Overall, this is a good lunch system for us

    by Karry B - 09/2009

Overall, this is a good lunch system for us. The water bottle leaked significantly from the first use, including into some of the other sections. I have yet to find one that will fit in that compartment. My daughter thought the stickers were great fun! I am very pleased that I no longer go through so many plastic bags! The water bottle thing is disappointing as I have read previous reviews saying that it leaked and thought that the problem had been fixed.

My kids (ages 5 and 7)love these lunch boxes. They had a blast decorating them and make their own lunches everyday. The compatments are roomy and fit a lot of different foods. I love that we no longer have to use a bunch of plastic containers. The lids are diffucult for my 5 year old to get on and off, he has to ask for help. Other than that we love them.

    Doesn't hold up

    by Michelle W - 02/2010

I bought this in the Fall for my preschooler in order to save on baggies in her lunch. I stopped using it by November because it is next to impossible to get the lid on now. I don't know if putting it in the dishwasher has caused it or what. If it is that hard for me to get on, how can a child be expected to. I really love the idea of it, but practically it just doesn't work.

    Very cute and functional, but...

    by Laurie M - 02/2010

It is difficult for my 6-year-old kindergartener to get it completely closed after lunch--probably wouldn't have been an issue in preschool as he could more easily elicit help from teachers then. Also, unless your child has a refrigerator at school to keep it in, it doesn't keep things cool on its own. I have a flat cooler pack that I rubber band to the lunchbox as he keeps it in his backpack until his 12:45 lunch. It does seal off each compartment and the milk bottle does not leak as long as you place it in the compartment opening side down as the lunchbox holds it closed. We learned that lesson the first time we used it. And he did love to decorate it with the stickers and they appear to be dishwasher safe as well. We purchased a Laptop Lunch kit for my older son and there is a mesh liner in the "briefcase" to stash a cold-pack in. I think it would also have been a better choice for my six-year-old as well.

    Great ideas are expensive

    by Zachary F - 02/2010

The price seemed to be an appropriate starting point, so no massive deal to be had here, but not completely unreasonable. It's basically a large piece of tupperware that seals individual compartments entirely, so you don't need to use additional containers or baggies regardless of what you're putting in there, which is a great concept for people who don't want to throw away a 1/2 lb of packaging every day. The lid is difficult to remove, so probably not something the smaller kids could remove on their own. The stickers look to be waterproof but I haven't had it long enough to see how it fairs in the dishwasher over time. It is also a tad bulky, I think they should consider making them in different sizes maybe...
