Product Details

About the bags
These ingenious green produce bags offer a natural way to absorb the enzyme producing gases that cause vegetables to deteriorate. Evert Fresh bags are made from low density polyethylene that is coated with a fine layer of natural clay containing high levels of a mineral proven to absorb ethylene gas. (When produce ripens it emits ethylene which speeds up the ripening / rotting process). Each packet contains 10 medium 1 gallon bags measuring 7" X 17" X 5"

Using Evert-Fresh bags can extend the life of produce 3 to 10 times. Perhaps it's so hard to find these at grocery stores since using them enables you to cut down on wasted fruits and veggies, resulting in having to buy a lot less. Evert Fresh bags can help you avoid throwing away uneaten produce -- saving you money and while helping cut down on waste. Evert Fresh can also play a role in lowering your carbon footprint since less waste leads to buying less, and making fewer trips to the grocery store and/or market.

Evert Fresh's trademarked, green colored, bags also naturally cuts down on damaging effects of UV rays resulting in far less vitamin loss.

Reusing Evert-Fresh Bags
Each bag has the capacity to absorb ethylene 8-10 times. To reuse, simply rinse with water only (no soap) and let thoroughly dry (we recommend turning inside out to dry) After 8-10 uses we suggest you continue to reuse the bag as a produce bag especially for items you plan on eating quickly and/or are not prone to rapid decomposition.

Reducing food waste helps limit greenhouse gases
Food waste produces methane (a greenhouse gas) when it decays in landfills. Reduce your food waste and you help limit this gas. Plus, by wasting less you’ll also help decrease the energy and materials needed to produce, package and transport food – all which add to greenhouse gas production. In fact, in the UK alone, food transport accounts for 25% of all the miles driven by large vehicles!

Product Use Tips:
  • Store produce in a cool, dry and dark place.
  • Don't crowd or combine different product in same bag.
  • Be sure to rinse bags after each use and dry thoroughly.
  • If excess moisture is present, dry produce thoroughly and place in dry Evert-Fresh bag with natural paper towel or coffee filter.
  • For best results, keep bags shut by tying in a knot or securing with a clothes pin.

    Story Behind The Bags
    Scientists involved in Antarctic exploration were searching for ways to prolong the freshness of produce. During their research, they found a region in Japan where for thousands of years farmers have been storing produce in mountain caves with amazing results.

    The caves were dark, consistently cool, and dry. But it was discovered that the key to the remarkable preserving properties of the caves was a clay called "oya," and the cave mountain was made of it. The oya absorbed the ethylene gas that produce gives off as it matures. Evert-Fresh bags combine ancient knowledge thousands of years old with space age technology for preserving produce. All that, in a simple, green bag.

    These bags really are amazing. I use them primarily for fresh herbs, which used to last a couple days at most in my fridge, now they last a week or more.

    I put some green peppers in a bag in the fridge and a cantaloupe in a bag at room temp. The cantaloupe was moldy in 2 days and the green peppers were mushy within a few days too.

    I purchased the Evert-Fresh Green Bags to try with my fruits and vegetables. I was disappointed with the bananas in the bag. They became moldy at the stem end. I did not refrigerate them, because I usually don't refrigerate bananas. I was disappointed I could not store lettuce in the bag because I buy Romaine and it was wet. However, the peppers I bought are doing well in the bag. I shared the bags with my sister-in-law and have not had any feedback yet.

    The bags are great, I put all of my produce in them. It is nice to rinse and reuse, with such ease. They have kept me produce much fresher, and of high quality. Much better price than in the stores or the ones on TV. The only thing I had to learn the hard way is make sure your items are completely dry before placing them in the bag. If you do not they will mold or get mushy. I just have to dry everything and they work amazing.

    unfortunately, I did not have any success using your product with bananas or lettuce, and for the fruit and vegetables, I found moisture accumulation from the very first day, even though the food was dry when I put it into your bags. Debbie Myers greenbags do not form moisture for about a week after initial storage, so I thought I would switch to you because of their long delays in shipping their product, but I found your customer service far worse when I had to take time to respond three or four times to a simple question I thought I had handled upfront regarding my mailing location being temporarily different from the billing address. you sent me e-mails telling me you could not determine where the product was to be sold, you telephoned me, venue notified me that because you could not make it out, my shipping date would be delayed, and I had already bought fresh fruits and vegetables at the farmers market thinking I could count on your product being there at the beginning part of the week. Also, I like the fact that the green bags have the zip lock seal. I hope this helps you in improving your product and your customer service personnel and I thank you for caring enough to ask for feedback.

    Evert-Fresh Green Reusable Bags are wonderful. I actually kept FRESH banana pudding for 3 days with my green bags. It may have kept longer, but we ate all of it by the third day. Fresh fruit and vegetables stay ripe without going bad much longer in my green bags. If you want to keep things fresh longer these green bags are the thing you need. Since they are reusable I believe we even save on other wraps and bags. I think I'm very lucky to have tried Evert-Fresh. I'll not be without them again.

    I have used the green bags before and was quite please. I haven't thrown out ANY vegetables since I have started using the bags. The only thing they do not work on, for me, is bananas. If moisture starts in the bag I throw in a paper towel and am good to go. I ordered several extra sets of bags and gave each of my daughters one set to try. I just love them.

    I basicly wanted to use these for keeping salads fresh for a longer length of time. This works for 2 to 3 days but not after that. I have just started using them on fruits and vegatables and it is too soon to really say how they will do with that.
