Ideal for those of you that have cut plastic bag consumption to the point that you no longer have enough to reuse for dog poop, garbage can liners, yard waste, etc. They're a smart alternative to polyethylene / polypropylene based plastic bags & designed to help people 100% committed to being plastic bag-free.

Design & functionality
Why put 100% biodegradable dog waste into a plastic bag that will take hundreds of years to photodegrade? Using BioBag Dog Waste Bags in place of plastic bags makes sense: the waste and the BioBag can be thrown in your backyard compost, where both items will decompose naturally; the waste and bag can be buried, where micro-organisms will quickly eat both; the waste and bag can be set at curbside with other yard waste where communities collect biodegradable waste for composting. Lightweight & highly compressible, it’s easy to carry a bunch in your pocket while taking the dog for a walk.

Also great for refrigerated food storage (yeah, we know it's kind of gross using a "dog waste" bag for this purpose but it works). Since a BioBag "breathes" without leaking it allows heat and moisture to escape, which helps keep food fresher longer so you waste less food. Try BioBags for storing your fruits and vegetables, then reuse the same bag to line your composting pail or as a trash can liner for smaller trash cans, e.g. bathroom.

Materials
BioBags are made from a bio-polymer called Mater-Bi™, the first 100% biodegradable and compostable bio-polymer ever invented. Mater-Bi™ is made from cornstarch, vegetable oil & other renewable resources. It is completely biodegradable in different environments: in composting, in the soil & in fresh / salt water. 3rd party certifications include US, National & International certificates. Click here for more.

BioBag packaging represents the company’s commitment to producing as environmentally friendly as possible and is not only made from natural fibers and recycled material, it’s 100% biodegradable & compostable. Inks and dyes are also soy based.

Sustainability
BioBags are a smart alternative to polyethylene/polypropylene based plastic bags. They’re designed to help people reduce the usage of new and recycled polyethylene-based plastic. Regular usage will help rid plastic bags from our environment. BioBags are made primarily from cornstarch and are certified to be 100% biodegradable and 100% compostable. Regular plastic bags do not biodegrade – they photodegrade whereby the elements break them down into smaller and toxic bits.

Some manufacturers are blending additives to polyethylene to produce bags marketed as “biodegradable” or “degradable”; these merely accelerate the photodegredation process. By rapidly breaking plastic into tiny bits – it gets rid of the eyesore but the plastic remains! Of course these do not meet the ASTM D6400-99 standard for biodegradable and compostable plastic. The claim of biodegradability offered by these products is misleading and should be avoided since we believe they represent the worst possible alternative. Click here for more.

About BioBag
BioBag is the world’s largest selling brand of biodegradable and compostable bags made from the material, Mater-Bi. Widely used for the collection of food waste for composting, BioBags are also popular among consumers who seek to reduce the amount of polyethylene-based plastics in the environment. BioBags are GMO free, certified for use in organic agriculture and CEN certified for restricted use of metals in our vegetable-based inks and dyes. BioBag products meet the ASTM D6400-99 requirements, which is the gold standard for compostable plastic. BioBags are shelf-stable, just like paper towels, yet biodegrade quickly when exposed to nature’s elements and micro-organisms, leaving no harmful residues behind.

Biobags are made in Norway.

Care Instructions
  • Avoid sharp objects
  • Avoid over-filling
  • Placing excessive wet contents into bags can stimulate bag decomposition within three or four days
  • Extended heat may eventually cause splitting

Please note: We get a lot of questions about using these bags for cat litter. Some people have used them for scoopable litter, but they are not large enough to use as a litter box liner. Please note the size of each bag before using these for cat waste.
  • Store in a dry, cool area

These bags are so light weight and compact - easy to stuff in your pocket when you're off to walk the dogs. With two dogs, I use two to four bags a day. Knowing the bags are biodegradeable removes the guilt from the process. I toss the used bags in with my yard waste, knowing they'll end up as compost.

I feel great using these BioBags. Whenever I use the bags on a roll, I envision them "biodegrading" into a thousand, tiny pieces of plastic, but roaming the earth for a thousand years. These bags will TOTALLY DISAPPEAR as they are completely compostable. Also, they have handy holes built in the top, so no messy trying to tie a knot - simply slip one hole through the other, and you've got a handy carry without lots of wrapping, knotting, praying that it won't burst or explode or get poop on your hands. TRY THESE!!!

I bought these to use with our cats' litter box

    by Mark P - 10/2009

I bought these to use with our cats' litter box. They are great, except they are a little too small. I won't buy them again for that purpose, but as dog poop bags, I think they would be great. They are a little thin, but they are strong enough and they haven't punctured.

    Great product!

    by Andrea B - 09/2009

Great product! We are using the bags for cat waste. It's so great to be using something that is biodegradable. The full-sized Dog Waste Bags are better for our needs than the small sized waste bag, but both are excellent products. I highly recommend them.

Quick shipping. Good product. Like the fact that they are light weight, smaller size for small dogs, and black so you can't see what you are carrying!

I am so glad to find a biodegraable bag for dog waste, and this product works just fine. I appreciate the black, opague construction. I do wish that these bags were a little larger.

Using bags for general kitchen trash

    by Karen B - 08/2009

Using bags for general kitchen trash. Bag is a bit small, but I thought the 3 gallons would be too big. In the end the 3 gal. suit my needs more.

Great Bags! I love these poop bags. They are discreet, good-sized and compostable. I just wish they came in packs of 100 or more!

I have used these dog biobags for about a year

    by Carissa S - 08/2009

I have used these dog biobags for about a year. I think they are a great product for a great price. I have a Rhodesian Ridgeback which is a large dog. The bags are big enough to fit up to two of her bowl movements. They are black, which is very discreet. And the bags are not bulky so I can fold them and stick them in my pocket, camera bag, purse, glove compartment or pretty much anywhere else. Sometimes if I take my dog hiking I even tie one around her collar (before using) if I have no pockets. Aside from the negative environmental impact they have, I hate carrying around grocery store bags to clean up after my dog for a number of reasons. These dog bags offer a wonderful alternative. Reasonably priced, functional and reliable, I will continue to use these bags indefinitely.

    by Elizabeth S - 07/2009

My only problem is that I wish they were a little larger. We have 2 labs & 2 bull dogs and bags that are just a little larger would be a lot better. Other than that, we love them. Its nice to know were not putting more plastic in landfills.

    by Amber H - 07/2009

We use these bags to clean out our cats' litter box. Obviously, they are a great alternative to grocery store plastic bags. Our only complaint is their limited shelf life, as with many compostable bags, but since we use them every day, it hasn't been a major issue. I didn't give them 5 stars because I'd like it if they came with a wider opening--it's a bit small for the cat litter scoop....
