I use these bags for my cat's scoopable litter, so it would be nice to have some larger handles that could be tied tighter so that it doesn't smell. Otherwise, it's a perfect size and works great!
Florence F - 02/2010 Rating:
I love the doggie poop bags and especially since they are black and you cannot see the mess inside. I have small dogs,so the small bags are perfect.

Design & functionality
Why put 100% biodegradable dog waste into a plastic bag that will take hundreds of years to photodegrade? Using BioBag Dog Waste Bags in place of plastic bags makes sense: the waste and the BioBag can be thrown in your backyard compost, where both items will decompose naturally; the waste and bag can be buried, where micro-organisms will quickly eat both; the waste and bag can be set at curbside with other yard waste where communities collect biodegradable waste for composting. Lightweight & highly compressible, it’s easy to carry a bunch in your pocket while taking the dog for a walk.

Also great for refrigerated food storage (yeah, we know it's kind of gross using a "dog waste" bag for this purpose but it works). Since a BioBag "breathes" without leaking it allows heat and moisture to escape, which helps keep food fresher longer so you waste less food. Try BioBags for storing your fruits and vegetables, then reuse the same bag to line your composting pail or as a trash can liner for smaller trash cans, e.g. bathroom.

Materials
BioBags are made from a bio-polymer called Mater-Bi™, the first 100% biodegradable and compostable bio-polymer ever invented. Mater-Bi™ is made from cornstarch, vegetable oil & other renewable resources. It is completely biodegradable in different environments: in composting, in the soil & in fresh / salt water. 3rd party certifications include US, National & International certificates. Click here for more.

BioBag packaging represents the company’s commitment to producing as environmentally friendly as possible and is not only made from natural fibers and recycled material, it’s 100% biodegradable & compostable. Inks and dyes are also soy based.

Sustainability
BioBags are a smart alternative to polyethylene/polypropylene based plastic bags. They’re designed to help people reduce the usage of new and recycled polyethylene-based plastic. Regular usage will help rid plastic bags from our environment. BioBags are made primarily from cornstarch and are certified to be 100% biodegradable and 100% compostable. Regular plastic bags do not biodegrade – they photodegrade whereby the elements break them down into smaller and toxic bits.

Some manufacturers are blending additives to polyethylene to produce bags marketed as “biodegradable” or “degradable”; these merely accelerate the photodegredation process. By rapidly breaking plastic into tiny bits – it gets rid of the eyesore but the plastic remains! Of course these do not meet the ASTM D6400-99 standard for biodegradable and compostable plastic. The claim of biodegradability offered by these products is misleading and should be avoided since we believe they represent the worst possible alternative. Click here for more.

About BioBag
BioBag is the world’s largest selling brand of biodegradable and compostable bags made from the material, Mater-Bi. Widely used for the collection of food waste for composting, BioBags are also popular among consumers who seek to reduce the amount of polyethylene-based plastics in the environment. BioBags are GMO free, certified for use in organic agriculture and CEN certified for restricted use of metals in our vegetable-based inks and dyes. BioBag products meet the ASTM D6400-99 requirements, which is the gold standard for compostable plastic. BioBags are shelf-stable, just like paper towels, yet biodegrade quickly when exposed to nature’s elements and micro-organisms, leaving no harmful residues behind.

Biobags are made in Norway.

Care Instructions
  • Avoid sharp objects
  • Avoid over-filling
  • Placing excessive wet contents into bags can stimulate bag decomposition within three or four days
  • Extended heat may eventually cause splitting

Please note: We get a lot of questions about using these bags for cat litter. Some people have used them for scoopable litter, but they are not large enough to use as a litter box liner. Please note the size of each bag before using these for cat waste.
  • Store in a dry, cool area

These bags are so light weight and compact - easy to stuff in your pocket when you're off to walk the dogs. With two dogs, I use two to four bags a day. Knowing the bags are biodegradeable removes the guilt from the process. I toss the used bags in with my yard waste, knowing they'll end up as compost.

I feel great using these BioBags

    by Lisa L - 10/2009

I feel great using these BioBags. Whenever I use the bags on a roll, I envision them "biodegrading" into a thousand, tiny pieces of plastic, but roaming the earth for a thousand years. These bags will TOTALLY DISAPPEAR as they are completely compostable. Also, they have handy holes built in the top, so no messy trying to tie a knot - simply slip one hole through the other, and you've got a handy carry without lots of wrapping, knotting, praying that it won't burst or explode or get poop on your hands. TRY THESE!!!

Maybe I'm the only one, but I use these EXCLUSIVELY for school lunches! We have no dog. They are just perfect and my kids think its hilarious that their food sometimes comes packed in Dog Poop bags. I use them when I've forgotten to wash our snacktaxi bags. My spouse keeps asking if they are really food safe, but I don't see why not. I'm ordering my 5th & 6th boxes today.

    NOT usuable for compost crock

    by Lynn A - 01/2010

I was very excited & looking forward to using this for my compost crock as suggested. I measured my crock. The size should have been great. But the bags are TOTALLY flat. They don't pop open like normal plastic bags. So they wouldn't work for my compost or automatic cat litter box that takes very small plastic bags. They would never work for a small garbage can as suggested. Very disappointed. The next size up is a tall kitchen garbage can.

    I like these bags.

    by Lori T - 01/2010

Another customer said they rip easily, but that has not been my experience. I wish they came in a roll so I could put them in the bag dispenser that attaches to the leash. Since they don't, I usually just tie a few to the leash handle.

    Love Them

    by Glenda S - 12/2009

I've been using these daily for several weeks now, and will continue to do so indefinitely. I have had no problems with these tearing -- as long as you're not trying to use a pooper scooper with them, or picking up sticks or pokey objects while picking up dog poo, tearing shouldn't be an issue. We have a 13 lb dog & 18 lb dog and one bag holds a days' worth of their poo (I now de-poo our backyard daily, weather permitting). The bag would actually hold twice that much, but I can only pick up that amount in my hand at one time -- then, once you flip the bag inside out, there's not an easy way to add to it. So a package of bags will last us nearly a month, and I think that's a good buy for the purpose. And I really haven't minded switching from using a pooper scooper to using these bags instead.

    not at all happy

    by Fran T - 11/2009

I am sorry to report that these are not at all worth buying. They literally rip upon starting to open them. I bought two boxes for two separate pet owners, both people had the same reaction.

I bought these to use with our cats' litter box

    by Mark P - 10/2009

I bought these to use with our cats' litter box. They are great, except they are a little too small. I won't buy them again for that purpose, but as dog poop bags, I think they would be great. They are a little thin, but they are strong enough and they haven't punctured.

Just bought the doggie poop bags and these are great. Only wish they were just a tad thicker. But to keep from using plastice bags (something I'm adament about)these do the trick!

    Great product!

    by Andrea B - 09/2009

Great product! We are using the bags for cat waste. It's so great to be using something that is biodegradable. The full-sized Dog Waste Bags are better for our needs than the small sized waste bag, but both are excellent products. I highly recommend them.

    Quick shipping

    by K Christine T - 08/2009

Quick shipping. Good product. Like the fact that they are light weight, smaller size for small dogs, and black so you can't see what you are carrying!
