Design & functionality
BioBag kitchen waste bags are primarily for the collection of food scraps and other biodegradable waste for home or community composting. BioBag Tall Kitchen waste bags are sized equivalent to regular plastic bags and fit most kitchen waste cans. Perfect for collecting food waste, paper and other biodegradable packaging items. These bags are also great for collecting outdoor waste from small gardening areas.

Materials
BioBags are made from a bio-polymer called Mater-Bi™, the first 100% biodegradable and compostable bio-polymer ever invented. Mater-Bi™ is made from cornstarch, vegetable oil & other renewable resources. Sustainability
BioBags are a smart alternative to polyethylene/polypropylene based plastic bags. They’re designed to help people reduce the usage of new and recycled polyethylene-based plastic. Regular usage will help rid plastic bags from our environment. BioBags are made primarily from cornstarch and are certified to be 100% biodegradable and 100% compostable. Regular plastic bags do not biodegrade – they photodegrade whereby the elements break them down into smaller and toxic bits.

Some manufacturers are blending additives to polyethylene to produce bags marketed as “biodegradable” or “degradable”; these merely accelerate the photodegredation process. By rapidly breaking plastic into tiny bits – it gets rid of the eyesore, but the plastic remains! Of course these do not meet the ASTM D6400-99 standard for biodegradable and compostable plastic.     Our city has us sort things into compostables, recyclables, and garbage. These bags are must for keeping our kitchen container clean. Have started using them in other trash cans as I wean us off the plastic bags from the grocery and other stores (thanks to reusablebags.com!). They are not super tough. If you put heavy items into your trash, they may tear. Best used for compostables and in small cans around the house (they sell smaller sizes for that purpose).

    I am so surprised ,but I am writing my first negative review on this site Ipurchased the tall kitchen trash bags. they are very small for "tall bags" & do not fit our standard kithcen trash can. The one good point is that they seem to be very strong

    These bags are great; much stronger than I anticipated. They are not as cheap as traditional plastic bags, but they offer an easy, "doable" means of reducing our carbon footprint on the environment.

    Love the biodegradable waste bags. Great option to the super market blow away plastic. If Seattle votes to ban the bags at the super market, many will buy tplastic bags and where will we be? Wish they had handles.

    They are great and a responsible answer to the blow away plastic bags we get in the grocery store. We do use the grocery bags from the super market for garbage. If Seattle votes to outlaw plastic bags, then most will go buy plastic garbage bags. Thus this alternative is the answer. Wish they had handles.

    I love these bags! I don't understand the complaints about lack of strength, but admittedly, we compost and recycle in our house. This means we have very little trash to throw away, and it is usually dry (since anything organic gets composted). I love the idea that I am not using a big plastic bag for my trash, and even if it does take a long time to break down in a closed landfill, it will break down as something better than plastic. I think these bags are great for people who have already begun to make changes in how they handle their trash. I will definitely keep using these. Thank you for a GREAT product.

    Because we recently signed up for compost refuse pickup, I eeded to find a biodegradable garbage bag. I now use the TALL KITCHEN BIO BAG and like it very much. I've learned not to fill too full, so I have room to knot it off. I accidently made an error on my last order, and customer service corrected it and exceeded my expectations! Great company to work with.

    This is a great product. I was driving 30 minutes away to buy them at a small organic food store (only when I needed to make the trip) but they hold so much and they don't tear and they are not bad for the environment! I love them!!!! I wish these were available everywhere!!!! Try them and I guarantee you won't go back to regular garbage bags!

    These are great

    These are great. We had been going bag-less for a while to reduce our waste, but cleaning out the trash can every time wastes a lot of water and doesn't get it completely clean. These bags are better for the environment than anything else we've seen and they work quite well. They tear somewhat easily, but not easily enough to ruin their usefulness. This is a great product and a good price.
