Design & functionality
BioBag 3 gallon size is designed to fit most kitchen countertop composting pails. Once full, you can throw the entire bag and contents into your composter.

Also great for refrigerated food storage. Since a BioBag “breathes” without leaking, it allows heat and moisture to escape, which helps keep food fresher longer so you waste less food. Try BioBags for storing your fruits and vegetables, then reuse the same bag to line your composting pail or as a trash can liner for smaller trash cans, e.g. bathroom.

Materials
BioBags are made from a bio-polymer called Mater-Bi™, the first 100% biodegradable and compostable bio-polymer ever invented. Sustainability
BioBags are a smart alternative to polyethylene/polypropylene based plastic bags. They’re designed to help people reduce the usage of new and recycled polyethylene-based plastic. Regular usage will help rid plastic bags from our environment. BioBags are made primarily from cornstarch and are certified to be 100% biodegradable and 100% compostable. Regular plastic bags do not biodegrade – they photodegrade whereby the elements break them down into smaller and toxic bits.

Some manufacturers are blending additives to polyethylene to produce bags marketed as “biodegradable” or “degradable”; these merely accelerate the photodegredation process. By rapidly breaking plastic into tiny bits – it gets rid of the eyesore but the plastic remains! Of course these do not meet the ASTM D6400-99 standard for biodegradable and compostable plastic.     While I'm very glad someone has created a bag that's biodegradable, I think the technology is not yet up to the task. These are extremely fragile...today, a piece of bread poked a hole in the bag! I'm hopeful they will continue to improve this and other biodegradable bags, but I'm not sure I'd order these again.

    I love these bags. I haven't test composting with them yet, but they are great little bags for scraps. They have a wide opening and fit a number of different receptacle. I will be testing them once we get our composter to see how well and quickly they decompose, but I think they will perform well from what I see of them.

    I like these bags. Happy not to be putting plastic into landfill. I can't wait for the day when plastic bags are expensive and these bags are cheaper!

    Love Bio bags...the small ones are great for lunch or using to keep vegies FRESH in the fridge. I havent tried the compost bin yet, but it looks like a great idea. The kitchen 13gal Bio Bags are a bit expensive and need to be tied at the bottem to make sure they dont leek through the perferation, but I love them.

    Since I have switched over to canvas shopping bags, I no longer have the plastic grocery store bags to use for kitty litter waste and dog waste pick-up. I decided to try your compostable bags for those chores and they are working great. I feel a lot bettter knowing how quickly the compostable bags will break down.

    Absolutely love them. I've given rolls to all my neighbors and they reward me with contributions to my compost bins. So easy for all of us!!! P.S. an unwelcome visitor to my cabinet enjoyed them this winter too. Seems a little mouse snuck in and my roll of bio bags looked like swiss cheese when she was done! She knew they were safe too! (and probably tasty)

    Bags work great, were a good value, and delivered quickly. They are just the right size for my small compost pail just outside the back door, which then gets taken to the yard debris / food waste container further away. Keeps the compost pail nice and clean.

    I love these. I was just putting my compost from the kitchen in a plastic coffee can, but it was gross and soupy if I didn't empty right away. I can line my can and keep these in for a couple of days. I will repurchase when I run out.

    The bags are great. I was using a plastic coffee can which meant having to wash it out each time I emptied it outside. Now I take the whole thing outside and throw it all in the compost.

    I like the idea of these bags but they are too small to fit my smallest rubbish bins. If they were a bit bigger, they would be more useable. They might fit a coffee container but that's about it.

    These bags are great! I had read several of the previous reviews and took to heart the advice concerning the care needed when removing the bags from packaging to avoid tearing them. They seem to be somewhat fragile when removing them from the package, but have held up very well when full. I haven't had any problems with tears or leaks so far. While there is some moisture in my compost can after taking out a full bag, that hasn't impacted my use of them. I will definitely continue using them.
