It is made of recycled cotton, but it's not as thick or sturdy as canvas tends to be. Next time I might go with canvas, just in case this doesn't hold up over time, considering I'm using it for groceries, which can get quite heavy when filled with liquids, especially. It is lightweight, and having two sets of handles is a plus, in case you want to sling it over your shoulder. I thought black would be a good color to get, hiding dirt and all, but instead it shows lint, dust etc. Guess I may have to rethink my color choices as well! ... more

I absolutely love this tote! I used it during my vacation in Orlando and never once needed to use a plastic bag. I love the choice of handles. Also, holds two six-packs wonderfully.

I bought 6 of these bags after I destroyed several of the store bags. I live on the 4th floor of a walk up and these are a life saver. Personally, I am determined to get as much up in one trip as possible. I have loaded these bags to the brim and not one tear. The double handles are great addition. You can hook the lower handles on the stand at the store to load them. Then I stuff them into one bag and back down stairs on the next trip, and they wash great. ... more

Materials
When it comes to sustainability, recycled cotton blows away organic cotton. Made from pre-consumer cotton "table waste" clippings that otherwise would be dumped in landfills, it may be the most environmentally-friendly fiber on the planet. Manufacturing and processing recycled cotton requires no wet finishing, dying, liquids or chemicals. Thanks to recent advances in manufacturing, recycled cotton looks and feels almost identical to conventional cotton.
Recycled cotton makes sense. Using it in place of regular cotton helps eliminate the harsh dyes, pesticides, energy, water and human labor required of conventionally grown cotton. Furthermore, by recycling discarded fibers, we help divert millions of tons of textile waste from landfills each year. Learn more about recycled cotton.
Sustainability
Super durable and machine washable, this bag will get countless uses and eliminate the need for thousands of use-and-toss bags over its lifetime. All of our reusable bags are built to last, helping you save both money and natural resources.

Good bag, a little boring-looking, but I like the double handles. Would be even better if it folded up into a pocket or something.

It's a greeat design, but I wish it were bigger. I use IKEA bags with the dual handle because they can be carried over the shoulder as well, but I can fit 2 - 3 bags of groceries in them. I'd love to see this bag a bit bigger so I could handle 2 bags of groceries as opposed to 1 small bag

Nice, well sewn, strudy tote

Nice, well sewn, strudy tote. I use it mainly for carrying my library books to and from the library. I love the dual handle. It is wonderful for my purpose. I would be less inclined to use it for a shopping trip though as it is a bit small for that. For shopping I use my ACME Earth Totes.

I don't use these for shopping anymore, unless it's the only one in my car. I found them harder to use because when you go to bag the groceries, the bag doesn't stand up on it's own. It's probably smaller than what I need as well.

This bag is really nice. It is a generous size, and I haven't had a problem with shrinking after machine washing (easy care). The dual handles are great. The long handles fit comfortably over my shoulder, and the short are great for carrying in my hand without the bag dragging on the ground. The fabric is high quality, and so far it is very sturdy.

I was expecting the bag to be a little bit more rigid but it work well. I purchased it because it has the two sets of handles and I am happy with how those work. I but a more rigid bag inside this one to help it stand on its own better. I don't know how it will hold up but so far so good.

I have not used the bags I bought yet, I bought them for christmas gift. I buy environment friendly gift every year. I am going to put small gifts in the bags, light fluorescent light bulbs, environmentally friendly dish soap, cloth napkins. I know they will be a hit, I would live to receive them. Thank you for promoting the environment!!! Stephanie r

affordable/washable/practical/short/soft
by Pamela A - 11/2009
Pros: This dual-handled, recycled cotton tote is more affordable than most cloth options -- and I got it on sale, too! It's washable (so I don't mind getting it dirty) and practical to use (sling the long handles over your shoulder, or grab the short handles).
Cons: The depth (12.25") is slightly too short -- more than 2" shorter than my Hemptown bags -- so if any items inside poke out the top, I can't sling the bag over my shoulder. The material is sturdy but soft, not stiff, so the bag will NOT stand up on its own as shown in the product photos. (The gusset is made in the same way as on my Hemptown bags, just a "T" at the bottom of a centered side seam, so a box must have been placed inside those bags at the photo shoot.)
